Technical Bulletin Alert - How to Charge an Accumulator

THIS IS A CRITICAL ALERT: The Accumulator's bladder is pressurized with nitrogen to about 30 - 40% of the pressure of the hydraulic circuit in which it is installed (its “precharge pressure”) and requires periodic charging to maintain its pressure.

PURPOSE

 An Accumulator smooths out pulses and protects the hydraulic components from pressure spikes that occur while cycling your Ultra High Pressure Intensifier Pump. The nitrogen precharge pressure of the accumulator must be at factory settings in order to perform properly and extend the life of your hydraulic system. Failure to check and routinely charge the Accumulator will result in increased pressure spikes while your pump is cycling and ultimately will increase the service costs of maintaining your hydraulic system.

Jet Edge has produced an Accumulator Pressure Check Maintenance Training Video on how to properly charge your Accumulator. Visit the JetEdgewaterjets.com Resource Center to view this procedure. An Accumulator Charging Kit, (PN 28599) which includes a high pressure gauge and a low pressure gauge, is featured in the Service Procedure Video. Additionally, an Accumulator Pressure Monitor is available for site installation. The Accumulator Pressure Monitors are installed directly to the Accumulator and provide real time monitoring of Accumulator pressure.
